Death tarot meaning
Death is card XIII of the Major Arcana and almost never means physical death. It stands for an ending that makes room for something new. Upright, it means a chapter is closing and it's time to let it go. Reversed, it points to resisting a change that's already happening.
Keywords: endings, transition, letting go

Death upright
A skeleton in black armour rides a white horse carrying a flag with a white rose. People of every kind fall before it, and a sun rises between two towers in the distance. Upright, the card marks a real ending: a job, a relationship, a habit, a version of yourself. It's often a relief once you stop holding on.
Death reversed
Reversed, you know something is over but you're keeping it alive. Fear of what comes next can keep you in a situation longer than it serves you. The change is coming anyway. Ask what you'd gain by letting it happen.
Death in love and relationships
Upright, the end of a relationship, or the end of one stage of it so a deeper one can start. Reversed, you may be holding onto a connection that's run its course.
Death at work and with money
The end of a role, a project, or a way of working. A restructure or career change is likely. With money, close out what isn't working. Reversed, resisting change at work may leave you behind.
Death as advice
Name what is ending, out loud or on paper. Let it finish so the next thing has room.
When Death keeps showing up
When Death keeps showing up, something in your life has been ending for a while and hasn't been allowed to. Look at what you were asking about each time. It's usually the same thing.
